KIDS MINISTRY

We are a family focused church. During each worship service we have a fully staffed nursery for kids birth - 2 and we offer preschool programming for children ages 3-Kindergarten. Elementary kids and older worship with their families in the main church service. Each week a kid specific service guide and activity, that matches the sermon and scripture, is provided to kids. Services are family friendly.

Worship Service Details

Our Sunday morning services are around 70 minutes. On the typical Sunday you'll experience:

A time of singing: We sing modern worship with the occasional hymn. It is vibrant, passionate, and engaging.

Testimony & Scripture Reading: Each week someone shares their experience with Jesus and reads for us the Bible passage we will be learning from that day.
A sermon:
We teach what the Bible says and work to apply it to modern life. Sermons are insightful, inspirational, and come directly from the Bible. You can watch or listen to a sermon here.

Communion: Each week we celebrate communion (eucharist) together. The elements are served in served in individual sealed containers.

Prayer: We have corporate prayer a couple times during the service. There is a dedicated time of prayer for people to come forward at the end of service and receive prayer from our ministry team and pastors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Check out these FAQ's to learn more:

What should I wear when I visit Sunday?

There are no expectations for anyone to look a certain way, all are welcome! The majority of people are dressed casually but some like to dress up and that is fine too. It is typical to see kids in soccer uniforms heading to a game after service and families in jeans and hoodies.

Are you a part of a denomination or a church network?

We are a non-denominal church but are part of a family of churches made up of Glen Ellyn Bible Church, Bartlett Bible Church and Living Hope Chapel. We are "one church" with three distinct congregations.

Do you offer communion / the eucharist?

Yes! Each week we celebrate communion together as we reflect on and remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Communion is optional, there is no pressure to participate. The elements are offered in small sealed individual containers and an a gluten free option is available.

I come from a Catholic background what do I need to know?

Although Living Hope Chapel is Protestant in heritage, we agree with the well-known words of the church father Augustine (354-430 A.D.) who said: “In essentials unity. In non-essentials liberty. In all things charity.” This means that when we disagree on a particular doctrine (i.e., belief), we want to maintain kindness toward one another, and where we agree we want to celebrate the unity we share.

While there are certainly differences in what we believe, differences which both Catholics and Protestants feel are important, there are also many points of agreement. For example, both Catholics and Protestants believe that God is Triune (i.e., Father, Son, and Holy Spirit), and that Jesus is the Son of God, who died a sacrificial death on the cross, and was raised from the dead three days later. We also both believe the Bible is inspired by God, that man is created in God’s image, is born mired in sin and in need of salvation.

It's been our experience that many with Catholic background feel at home in worship at Living Hope Chapel, while at the same time having some questions. You can click here to dive in deeper. If you have specific questions reach out to Living Hope's Pastor, John Vandervelde here.

Do I have to give money?

Generosity is important at Living Hope Chapel but no one is required to give anything, and no one is pressured to give. We do take an offering each week, but guests should feel no obligation to participate.
